And if you asked me who has made the best wine ever from the
south-America,
then is the answer Weinert – Weinert Estrella 1977.
This was the wine that plotted Weinert on the map, just after Don
Bernardo C. Weinert had established the winery in 1975.
One can still drink the 1977, which says something about the
possibilities here.
I tasted it when I paid the winery a visit some years ago.
Weinert is a redwine specialist with special emphasize on Malbec, which
is the main grape from here. Plus some Cabernet and Merlot.
Malbec is a very interesting grape, which is very good to meat and
barbeque, but have a bit tough tannins in young age.
If the wines are not well made or stored.
There
are at least 7 tannins – green and herbish, spicy, bitter, sweet,
pepperish, astringent (try to chew a banana skin), says Hubert Weber who

The tannins are important for red meat, as they desolve the fat, and the
fat again mitigate the tannins.
However, there are many types, and Weinert and Weber would like mature
tannins, concentration in the fruitness, but not too much:
